Tsairt Mineral LLC

Tsairt Mineral LLC is a Mongolian-Chinese joint venture that operates the Tömörtiin Ovoo zinc mine and dressing plant in Sükhbaatar sum, Sükhbaatar province, eastern Mongolia. The venture was formed after Mongolia's Metallimpex LLC and China Nonferrous Metal Industry's Foreign Engineering and Construction Co (NFC) signed a cooperation agreement in 1997, with the joint venture established in 1998 and held 49% by Metal Impex and 51% by NFC. The mine was officially commissioned on 28 August 2005 with a design capacity of 300,000 tonnes of ore dressed and 80,000 tonnes of zinc concentrate per year, later raised to around 400,000 tonnes of ore through technological upgrades. Concentrate is railed to the Sainshand transfer station and exported via the Trans-Mongolian Railway. The project was NFC's first overseas resource acquisition and has been designated a model project of China-Mongolia cooperation.
