Bogd Bank Returns to International Markets with US$25 Million Tap, Raising 2029 Notes to US$100 Million

Bogd Bank JSC has reopened its debut senior notes due 2029, placing an additional US$25 million and bringing the total outstanding to US$100 million. The original US$75 million three-year notes, carrying a 9.50% fixed coupon and listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange, priced in late May 2026, making this a return to the market within roughly six weeks of the debut. J.P. Morgan acted as placement agent, Linklaters as international counsel, and Frontier Strategies once again as advisor to the issuer.
The tap was placed with long-term institutional asset managers headquartered largely in Europe and Asia. Reopening a bond this soon after its debut typically means investor demand exceeded the amount offered in the original transaction, and the ability to raise additional funds from this class of investors is a strong endorsement of a first-time issuer from a frontier market.
For Bogd Bank, a specialist SME and retail lender positioned around digital banking and Mongolia's green transition, the tap deepens the funding diversification achieved with the debut, extending the bank's foreign currency liability profile beyond domestic deposits and bilateral DFI facilities.
The debut proved that a privately owned, non-systemic Mongolian bank could access international markets on its own standing; the tap proves that such access can be repeated. Together, the two transactions strengthen the case for other Mongolian private sector issuers considering the international debt markets.
